CBIC Revision of Tariff Values for Specified Imported Goods under the Customs Act

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on July 15, 2026, issued a notification amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) to revise the tariff values applicable to specified imported goods under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The revised tariff values cover crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts.

The notification substitutes Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3 of the earlier notification with updated tariff values. Among the revised values, Crude Palm Oil has been fixed at US$ 1,203 per metric tonne, Crude Soybean Oil at US$ 1,238 per metric tonne, Brass Scrap at US$ 759 per metric tonne, Gold at US$ 1,311 per 10 grams, Silver at US$ 1,869 per kilogram, while the tariff value for Areca Nuts remains unchanged at US$ 1,078 per metric tonne.

The revised tariff values will come into effect from July 16, 2026, and shall be used for determining the assessable value of the specified imported goods for customs purposes.
